Who We are

In 2009, armed with a zeal to address hunger and poverty in vulnerable communities, we registered FocusWise on Cassava initiative and invited community members to share in our dream.
We distribute improved cassava seeds to farmers in vulnerable communities across Kenya. We have hosted 29,711 farmers at our cassava demo farm since we set it up. Researchers have been visiting the farm for research work.
We host outreach meetings to sensitize and educate new farmers about the benefits of cassava farming. We attend agricultural shows and field days to showcase various cassava-based food and feed products.
We also provide a market for cassava produce from our farmers. We established a cottage cassava processing factory which is run as a social enterprise. In 2012, we approached the online crowd funding site www.globalgiving.org where we successfully raised funds for buying milling machines. We later acquired more machinery.

In 2011, we were privileged to host US Senator John McCain’s wife, who had been informed of our work. Kenyan media’s attention has been drawn too. We have severally been invited by various media stations to discuss the project on air.

We have received several community service awards and invitations to speak about cassava and food security across Eastern Africa.
